The Society of Anaesthetists of the South Western Region (SASWR) was established in 1947 and it is currently one of the largest regional anaesthesia societies in the UK, with over 500 members. It exists to bring together professionals in the region for education, professional development, and sharing of ideas.

The society holds two scientific meetings each year and it publishes a peer-reviewed journal: Anaesthesia Points West. Several bursaries and prizes are awarded by the society each year. Meetings are regularly held overseas in association with other European anaesthetic societies.

Applications for membership are extended to all professionals. We encourage participation from junior and senior team members. Please browse our website to discover more about our academic, social, and educational activities.
